Schultz Apartment Houston, TX (2004-2008)
The 5,000 sq. ft. apartment is a radical transformation of two adjoining apartments atop a twelve story residential tower built in the 1960s. The reconfigured apartment enjoys 180-degree view of Houston and its mesmerizing horizontality. The previous apartment layouts divided the rooms into small compartments - also oblivious to their privileged views. The design solution opens up the space as an expansive loft with views to all sides. Required to preserve the penthouse exterior envelope and its set of arched windows, the design incorporates these windows as precise viewpoints to the city and its verdant landscape.
