Join Juan Miró, FAIA, and Miguel Rivera, FAIA, on TuesdayNovember 17, at 6:00 p.m., for an online conversation about their forthcoming book, Miró Rivera Architects: Building a New Arcadia (University of Texas Press, Dec 2020). The talk is moderated by Carlos Jiménez, Rice Architecture Professor and Principal and Lead Designer of Carlos Jiménez Studio, and will be followed by a Q & A with the presenters.

The first from the firm, this volume provides critical insight into the studio’s creative process through texts, 95 drawings, and 231 photographs, exploring two decades of work that has helped bring Texas architecture onto the international stage. In all, Miró Rivera Architects has won more than one hundred design awards, and has represented American architecture at exhibitions worldwide.

Over the course of twenty years, acclaimed studio Miró Rivera Architects has produced an innovative, refined, and imaginative body of work—both modern, and respectful of time-honored building traditions. Their designs embody the particularities of place, and blur the line between art and architecture. The firm’s diverse practice weaves together a commitment to craftsmanship, with a honed sense of materiality and space, to create structures that are at once elegant, controlled, and pleasant to inhabit.

This event will be presented via Zoom. Registration is free and open to the public. Registration is open through Monday, November 16; registrants will receive additional information, including the event URL, by email ahead of the event.
